Ethel was the eighth child of John Bolton and Elizabeth Dossey Moates. She was born in 1887 in Erath County, Texas. She married Ruric (Rufus) Nevil Power and was the mother of three children, Katie Lee 1915, Ruric Jr (R.N.) 1917, and Larkin J (Jack) 1919.
Her niece, Winnie Hatcher Tidwell, remembered as a child sitting next to her Aunt Ethel on her wedding day at the noon meal. Winnie bit into a small tomato and the juice shot over on Ethel’s dress. Winnie ran out of the room and cried and cried thinking she’d ruined Aunt Ethel’s wedding dress. She had not, the dress Ethel was wearing was a muslin dress, not her wedding dress.
Ethel was a fun person, always the life of the party. She was buried in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in 1963. Her son ‘Jack’ was buried there also in 1985.
Both her sons were ministers.
